Not far from Amsterdam there are 2 areas where in late march till the third week of April large fields of flowers like hyacinths, daffodils and of course tulips are blossoming. The scent and colours of the hyacinths and daffodils and especially the colours of the tulip fields are famous all over the world and are a magnet for foreign and domestic visitors.

It’s important to stress that these large fields are only blossoming during these 3 weeks! They are not planted for the tourists! The farmers grow them for harvesting the bulbs later and after a couple of weeks they top the plants. It’s important to stress as well you are not allowed to walk into the flowerfields as you might spread diseases which could harm the flowering plants!

Besides these fields of the farmers there is a large flowerexhibition in the same region as well. It’s opening times are from around the 20th of march till around the 9th of may, so a couple of weeks longer. This is a usually very busy but beautifull exhibition. Entrance fee as of now is 18.50 euro per adult and 9 euro per child under 18.

I do tours to the flowerfields and/or the flower exhibition by minivan or public transportation and even by bike. By public transport it’s very well possible to reach the flower exhibition and surrounding flower fields! In that way the tour is a lot cheaper! The greatest way, the way many Dutch would visit the fields is by bike. In that case we  take our bikes with us into the train and from a railway station nearby the fields we tour around on our bikes. Because access for bikes to the trains is limited this can only be done with maximum 2 guests!

Price for a 3,5 hours tour of the flourishing flowerfields without visiting the flowerexhibition by minivan for up to 5 guests is 490 euro. The same tour inclusive visiting the flower exhibition is 1,5 hours longer and costs 20 euro per person extra in case you want us to include the flower exhibition as well. Bij public transport it’s highly recommendable to visit the flower exhibition as well. The base price is 190 euro plus 20 euro per person entrance fee for the flower exhibition and 15 euro per person for the public transport tickets. In case you are a couple or 2 friends who would like to visit the flowerfields by bike (the Dutch way) costs would be 190 euro base price plus 35 euro per person for the rent of the bikes and the tickets for the train.
