Request a Customized Private Tour

Request a customized private tour of Amsterdam or the countryside of The Netherlands. Just tell me what you like to be included in your customized private tour and i will design an itinerary which makes logistically sense.

You are free to include whatever you are particularly interested in. In my response i will tell you how much time i think would be necessary and what the costs would be for my service as private guide plus a per person estimate of entrance fees and the like.

Underneath the suggestions of items you might want to include in your tour, there is a form to request a customized tour including the possibility to indicate what you are looking for to be included in your customized tour.

Suggestions

To give you some ideas about what could be done and included:

Visiting one of the tens of museums about such a wide range of subjects like art from various era’s and styles (5 museums with significant collections of 17th century paintings in Amsterdam, besides this the world-famous Van Goghmuseum and Museum of Modern art), the second world war in The Netherlands (including the great and not busy Dutch Resistance Museum), the history of the use of hemp products, jewish heritage in Amsterdam and The Netherlands (including a great museum, the holocaust memorial and a huge 17th century sephardic synagogue), The world-famous Anne FrankHuis, erotics through the centuries, the history of Amsterdam beergiant Heineken, several great 17th century interiors like the one of the Royal Palace and the former Hidden Church where catholics held there services for over 200 years and a museum with streetorgans (great, typically dutch!)

Windmills & Countryside

Visiting a windmillcomplex in the Countryside near Amsterdam

Sightseeing-Tours of Amsterdam

Sightseeing-Tours of Amsterdam by boat, walking, ordinary bikes or rickshaw or combination of walking and sailing through the canals. As roads are mostly narrow, one-ways and there might be deliveries blocking the road tours by minivan or buses are not suitable to do sightseeing in the historic center!

17th and 18th century architecture

To really get an impression about Amsterdam in its heightdays in the 17th and 18th century it’s recommendable to include a visit of one of the great 17th century interiors of Amsterdam in your itinerary! There are several options in this respect; The Royal Palace, The Hidden Church, New Church and several other places.

Local food and local life

To get an idea about local food and local life a visit of the largest open-air market of Amsterdam is highly recommendable!

Tours visiting the infamous Red Light District

Private tour of the Red Light District and Coffeeshops, the shops where marijuana and hash are sold in Amsterdam.
TOURS OF THE MAIN, LARGE, RED-LIGHT DISTRICT WITH MAXIMUM 2 GUESTS ONLY!

Tours  to the famous flourishing flowerfields.

IMPORTANT: THESE LARGE FLOWERFIELDS DO ONLY BLOSSOM FROM THE END OF OF MARCH TILL THE 3RD WEEK OF APRIL! There is a large flower exhibition which is open from mid march till early may though which you might visit as well.

Daytrips to The Hague and/or (the port of) Rotterdam.

These places are within 1 hour by train from Amsterdam. The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government, parliament and the day-to-day Residence of the King of The Netherlands. Especially the area around the houses of Parliament is very worth visiting there. As is  one of the best museums with a couple of the most famous paintings by Vermeer in that same area. As Rotterdam was heavily bombed during the Second World War it lacks a center with many centuries old buildings. Most worth seeing in Rotterdam is its massive port, the largest of Europe and up to a couple of decades ago the largest in the world.

Other 17th century historical places

A hand full of smaller cities with historic mostly 17th century centers are within 1 hour driving by train from Amsterdam. They are less touristy miniatures of Amsterdam. I could propose trips to several of them, combining 2 or even 3 of them on a day-trip.

Biketours

It’s possible to take ordinary bikes into Dutch trains. This makes it possible to drive by train into cities and towns in the countryside and do a biketour around nice parts of the country. Because the space in trains for bikes is limited it is wise to do such trips with maximum 2 guests.
